What is a XXX file?
XXX is the Singer format, also read by Compucon software. It stores the stitches, color changes and exact thread colors.
What is a EXP file?
EXP is the Melco expanded format that Bernina machines read. It stores the stitches, jumps, trims and color changes, but no thread colors.
Is the conversion exact?
Every stitch keeps its position. After converting, we read the new file back and compare it with yours, stitch by stitch; a file that doesn’t match is never offered. EXP files store no thread colors, so your machine asks for each thread in the same order.
How to load the EXP file onto your machine
Copy the file to a USB stick and plug it into your machine, or send it with your machine maker’s app or software. Hoop your fabric with a stabilizer, choose the design on the screen and start sewing.
