What is a DST file?
DST is the Tajima format and the most widely read embroidery format: almost every machine and embroidery program opens it. It stores stitches, jumps and color changes, but no thread colors.
What is a PES file?
PES is the embroidery format of Brother machines, also read by Baby Lock, Bernette and many others. It stores every stitch, the thread colors from the Brother thread chart and a small preview picture for the machine’s screen.
Is the conversion exact?
Every stitch keeps its position. After converting, we read the new file back and compare it with yours, stitch by stitch; a file that doesn’t match is never offered. PES files use the Brother thread chart, so each color becomes the nearest Brother thread.
How to load the PES file onto your machine
Copy the file to a USB stick and plug it into your machine, or send it with your machine maker’s app or software. Hoop your fabric with a stabilizer, choose the design on the screen and start sewing.
